Five Things I want to Help My Audience With

I want to help and support mothers with their mental, physical and spiritual health. I want to do this from a Christian perspective and therefore have a place for Christian mothers to go to for health and wellness.

1. Provide research based information on maternal mental health

As a research psychologist I will make sure that I provide reliable information on supporting mothers mental health. I will also look at how maternal health and wellbeing can impact the wider family, especially the impact on children.

2. Provide encouragement for faith based parenting, encouraging mamas to ‘let go and let God’

Psalm 46:10 ‘Be still and know that I am God’.

This verse doesn’t just mean to rest in God, its Hebrew translation actually means to ‘slacken’, to loosen up. Therefore a more literal translation may be to ‘let go and let God’. There are so many situations in parenting that we can’t control (as much as we try!). I’ve been learning to try and let go and surrender to God more, let Him take control. To know that God is my refuge and my strength in times of trouble. Sometimes we have to be still, let go of what we are doing, surrender to God and have peace in the knowing He is there with us. ‘The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still’ (Exodus 14:14)

3. Explore the Christian perspective on parenting, mental health and self care

There is a lot of information out there on parenting and mental health, I want to explore this through a faith based lens: For example; What does the bible say on the topic of mindfulness and meditation?

4. Recommend some of the best self care products

Because I’ve spent loads of time and money trying different self care products and finding ways to improve my own physical and mental wellbeing I’d love to recommend some of my favourite products!

5. A retreat

A place where people can experience the love and hope in Jesus. To know that He cares about our minds, body and spirit. He created us! I want a place that will offer services that reflect that. Spaces to pray, exercises for the body and support in the challenging times of family life. This blog is a journey towards that.

Conclusion

I hope that through this blog I can support other mamas on their parenting and faith journey. I hope to encourage them to look after themselves; for them to see and know that they are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14).
